What to expect at a wellness exam

Just like you, your pets need annual check-ups. Preventive care is always better than reactive care. When it comes to keeping your pet healthy, regular veterinary checkups are a must. Most cats and dogs should see the vet at least once a year, and, as pets age, their wellness checkups should increase to two times per year or more depending on the individual animal's needs.

During a wellness checkup, Dr. Steele will check for any unusual bumps on your pet’s body, make sure all of your pet’s vital signs are as they should be, and listen to your pet’s heart and lungs to check for early stages of heart or respiratory disease. Catching an illness early usually means treatment is easier and less expensive. Plus, an annual checkup is a great time for owners to discuss flea control, behavioral issues, and other questions or concerns regarding their pets.
